This presentation and open studio provides a peek into Florence Marceau-Lafleur’s working process, prior to her first solo-exhibition at De Vishal in Haarlem.
For this project, she takes her side job as an academic model as an extended metaphor, through which she explores broader topics, such as motionlessness, contemplation, and the permeability of the body to its surroundings.
Florence revisits naturalistic figuration through different media, such as stereoscopes, altered anatomical books and performative sculptures. A special emphasis is put on the thought processes induced by immobility. In this way, she aims at creating an alternative imagery of the life drawing class, beyond the object-subject dichotomy.
